To Whom It May Concern:

John Ayres has been teaching here at Clearwater Valley Jr./Sr. High School since the beginning of the 2019/20 school year. He accepted our business technology position near the end of the summer, filling in a gap left by actions taken by the Mountain View School Board. In his short time here, he has done nothing but impress me. As his mentor teacher, I have had unique insight into what goes on in his classroom. As a teacher of the same student population, I have heard comments from our students in regards to how much they are learning in his classes. As a coworker, I have been given the pleasure of knowing who he is as a person. In all three areas, we are lucky to have Mr. Ayres.

With that said, due to situations beyond his control, he is looking for another job. The teacher Mr. Ayres replaced is getting his job back, leaving John in a precarious position. In my many conversations with John, I have learned how much he likes the area and the people. He really does NOT want to leave. Unfortunately, we don't have any positions available for him to slip into. This is a huge loss for our school, but will be a huge gain for anyone given the chance to hire him.

Of the many things John brings to the table, his ability to develop relationships with kids is at the top.

He came into a situation where the students were up in arms over the dismissal of the previous teacher. He was able to get the students to see past their anger and focus on their own education. In addition, he managed to maintain the student group, Business Professionals of America, and facilitated a record number of state competitors to success. Many of us were worried this group would fizzle after the loss of our last teacher, but John was able to keep the kids involved and successful.

Our students respect Mr. Ayres as does the staff. He has been a great addition here at CVJSHS and we hate to see him go. With that said, this is an opportunity for you to take advantage of the situation and hire him to work with your student and staff population. You will not be disappointed.
